Western Rivers Flyfishing Sampler
Description
If
you would like meet some very healthy fish with less discerning tastes,
then its best to take a long walk. As long as we're walking, why not make
it a pack trip into the beautiful Bechler portion of Yellowstone. This
is fine small stream fishing for wild trout in some very remote country.
Follow this with a night of comfortable lodging and then on to an overnight
float trip through a remote canyon section of the Snake where you can
catch Cutts, Browns and Rainbows all on the same fly. All group equipment,
food, land transport, boats and guide provided for a week of adventure
and great fishing.
For the price of three days of guided fishing, you get ground transportation
from Bozeman, MT, hotels, terrific meals, a canyon float on the South
Fork of the Snake, and a backpacking trip into the Yellowstone River.
We'll help you choose flies and get you to some of the finest Trout water
on the planet far from crowds. We can even set you up with the best local
guides if you wish. Go ahead, spoil yourself...we know where the fish
are big and uneducated.
Itinerary
The Yellowstone area is Mecca to many a fly fisher. Even when the
park is well into autumn, every stretch of water within a stone's throw
of roadways is decorated by anglers hoping to live a dream. Not only
does this cause the fish to grade on a very tough curve, it also takes
the luster off our brilliant dreams. There are wild trout in large
number and size to be taken, but they may require a little extra effort. By
donning our packs for a descent into a wild canyon on the Yellowstone
River for the first half and by overnight rafting the South Fork of the
Snake (Idaho) for the second half we are able to experience some brilliant
backcountry adventure and spectacular fishing.
This trip represents a very good value. Although we organize the
trip, outfit and escort you, we are not fishing guides. If you desire,
we can recommend some terrific local guides. For those who have basic
casting skills, we can certainly put you onto fish with the right flies...after
all, we like to fish too! All you need to bring are your pack, sleeping
bag and fishing gear. We'll provide all your land transport, gourmet
backcountry food, overnight accommodation and high quality camping gear
for four lucky anglers. We can even provide quality rods and reels,
if needed. Twice the service for less money and an opportunity unique
to this trip only. We can do this trip for a minimum of two anglers.
- Day 1 — Afternoon pick-up at Bozeman airport,
drive to Yellowstone via Gardner entrance (stop at Boiling River hot
spring for a soak), overnight in Gardner/orientation.
- Day 2 - 5 — Drive to trailhead and
hike into a canyon on the Yellowstone known for fine Cutthroats and
feisty Rainbows. Hike out on day 5 for a fine dinner out and a
night in comfortable lodgings.
- Days 6 - 8 — Pick up rafts and head
to put-in on the South Fork of the Snake. This is a fine stretch
of riffled class II water with chances at Cutts, Rainbows and Browns
with some shoulders. We'll camp deep in a canyon away from roadways
and fish some less accessible waters. The end of day 8 will find
us in comfortable rooms, telling tall tales and enjoying a fine western
meal.
- Day 9 — Shuttle back to Bozeman
to return flights.
